Responding quickly to the enormity of the devastating floods brought about by Typhoon Ondoy, four major big PEZA locator companies, TOSHIBA INFORMATION EQUIPMENT (PHILS), INC. represented by its President Yoshiyuki Yano, TOSHIBA STORAGE DEVICE (PHILIPPINES) INC. represented by its President Isao Morita, MAXIM TECHNOLOGY PHILS. represented by Richard Cohen, Managing Director for Asia Factory Operations and ROHM ELECTRONICS PHILS, INC. represented by its President KUNIHIKO TSURU personally offered substantial cash donations for victims of Typhoon Ondoy through the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
PEZA Director General Lilia B. de Lima forthwith formed a PEZA Emergency Relief Assistance Task Force composed of key PEZA officials & managers and PEZA volunteers. Four (4) days after Typhoon Ondoy, the Task Force based at the PEZA Head Office ground floor started distributing truckloads of bucketfuls of relief goods containing rice, sardines, corned beef, instant noodles, blanket, towel, drinking water, biscuits, coffee, candles, matches, bath & laundry soap, rubbing alcohol, medicines and clothing to flood-ravaged barangays areas in Calamba, Biñan and Bay, Laguna.
Other companies located in the PEZA economic zones followed suit in giving donations of clothing and food items through the PEZA Emergency Relief Assistance Task Force. Please see list of other donors.
Daily, truckloads were sent to Laguna de Bay affected areas like Biñan, Cabuyao, Los Baños, Bay, Sta. Cruz, Pangil, Pakil, Famy, Sta. Maria, Victoria, Sinoloan, Mabitac and Sta. Rosa, as well as other towns in Cavite (Rosario) and Rizal (Cainta), and Metro Manila cities of Marikina and Taguig.
Cavite and Laguna are part of CALABARZON area where most of the PEZA Industrial Zones are located and are considered as the "Mini-Silicon Valley and Detroit" because of the semi-conductor companies located therein.

The above pictures capture the misery of living in flood waters without food.Â

It also shows the happiness and gratefulness radiating from the faces of the recipients after receiving the donations from PEZA companies which hopefully could tide them over for a couple of days (more photos of Relief Operations).

They also capture the determination of volunteer PEZA officers and employees who have to wear two hats at the same time, one for doing their official duties because it’s business as usual and the other for the volunteer work either in purchasing, packing and distribution of the relief goods. Many of them have stories to share of the misery and helplessness of people in the evacuation centers and in their own submerged houses, but these PEZANS are happy to have contributed to making a little difference for the afflicted victims.
We wish to thank all PEZA companies, service companies, employees of PEZA companies and all those who have generously offered their resources, time and personal effort to extend assistance to the hapless victims of the extensive and devastating flood brought by Typhoon Ondoy. Your acts of kindness and brotherly concern brought comfort and smiles to those who have been reached by your goodness.
