Taguig City – The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has clarified on Friday that the company engulfed with flames last December 6, 2019 is a company which is not registered in PEZA and which is not located at the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ), one of PEZA’s public ecozones.
According to CEZ Zone Administrator Atty. Norma Tañag, the Betafoam Corporation, a non-PEZA-registered company is located in Paliparan I, Dasmariñas, Cavite, has been hit by fire in the morning of December 6.
The said company is engaged in manufacturing of polyethylene foam and insulation materials since 2003. It has owned over 10,000 sqm. factory and warehouse area and has about 200 regular employees.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection – Dasmariñas, the fire has reached fifth alarm and the cause of the incident is still under investigation. In a report, one worker was injured after being accidentally hit by a fire hose.
Meanwhile, PEZA Director General Charito B. Plaza ensures that “PEZA remain true to its mandate to guarantee the safety of its ecozones against all types of disaster, man-made or natural.”
She added that such events is the reason for the creation of its military reservist program, one of PEZA’s ten-point programs. “Through the affiliation as military reserve units of PEZA employees and workers in the ecozones, PEZAns and industry workers are prepared and able to respond to manmade and natural disasters and help in nation building,” explained Plaza. #
